How Roon Works
Roon’s architecture is built around four key components, allowing flexibility in setup and operation. It can run on a variety of platforms, including PCs, Macs, and dedicated servers, to meet the needs of any user:
Roon Core (Server) The central hub of the Roon ecosystem, the Roon Core (Server) manages music streaming, digital downloads, and overall system operations. It can run on various platforms, including personal computers or dedicated hardware such as Roon Nucleus Titan or the LDMS Minimax, ensuring smooth operation across your network.
Roon Software: Acting as the system’s brain, the software handles all streaming, music management, and metadata processing. It brings together disparate music sources and formats into one seamless experience.
Roon Apps: These are the user-facing controls, accessible on PC, Mac, tablets, or smartphones. They offer complete control over playback, library navigation, and system configuration, making it simple and intuitive to operate.
Roon Ready Devices: Certified Roon Ready products connect seamlessly to the Core over your network, delivering high-quality playback. Non-Roon Ready devices can also integrate via USB, with configurable output settings to accommodate a variety of DACs and system configurations.
