How Roon Works
Roon’s unique architecture is built around four interconnected components, offering unparalleled flexibility, performance, and customisation. This modular approach allows it to adapt to diverse audio systems, running on platforms ranging from PCs and Macs to purpose-built servers like the Roon Nucleus Titan or LDMS Minimax.
The Roon ecosystem has been structured into four distinct segments, each addressing a specific component of its functionality:
The Roon Core is for managing music and ensuring synchronized playback, the Roon Software unifies sources and supports high-resolution formats, the Roon Apps are for intuitive control across devices, and the Roon Ready Devices are for delivering high-quality, bit-perfect audio across your setup.
1- ROON CORE
The Roon Core (Server) is responsible for handling the Roon experience in its hardware form. It centralises the Roon application software, which manages all the processing required by your system.
2- ROON SOFTWARE
The Roon Software is the brain behind the curtains by handling all music streaming and digital downloads in a sleek and flawless package.
3-ROON APPS
Roon Apps are your contact of operation and can be handled from your PC, Mac, tablet, or mobile phone devices.
4-ROON ready DEVICES
Roon Audio Devices are certified Roon Ready products, allowing them to be controlled when plugged into your home network.
